Comments/Description

Nadeen School, established in 1977, follows the British Curriculum, and also draws on ideas from Australia, New Zealand and the USA. The school has a vast amount of equipment and resources for pupils and teachers, obtained from all of the above countries. All continents are represented in the school population, with an average of 50 different nationalities in the school.

The school comprises 4 blocks - Infant, Junior, and Activity Blocks, each with its own garden and playground space. The main playground contains 2 separate areas covered by sun canopies for large wooden climbing structures and other playground equipment, and a large paved area for bicycles and tricycles. The Activity Block contains our Library, Teacher Resource Room, IT Room, Music and Drama Studio, Learning Support Room, ESL Room, Language Classes, Cooking Room and Kitchen, AV Room, Soft Play Room, and a Vegetable and Flower Garden.  Three major and several supplementary reading schemes, and three major math schemes are used, and this provides the opportunity for lateral and upward extension of children's abilities. Children are taught in whole-class, small-group, and individual sessions with the class teacher and academic support staff.   Much of our work is topic related, so Art and Craft, History, Geography, Science, and Design-Technology are incorporated into these centres of interest, as well as being taught separately. Music, Drama, Dance, PE, and Cookery are in the weekly syllabus for all children. Children are also encouraged to take books from our very well stocked library. Regular school trips are made to areas of interest within Bahrain. Extra-curricular activities include Dance Club, Art Club, Cooking Club, Fun with Science/Maths/English, Choir, Drama, Music, and an after-school care program. The school maintains a low pupil-teacher ratio: Pre-Nursery - 1 teacher, 4 assistants; Nursery - 2 assistants for each teacher; Reception to Year 6 - 1 assistant for each teacher, as well as learning support and academic support staff. The school is well known for its very caring and nurturing environment, its family-oriented atmosphere, and for its welcoming, open door policy.
