The Gulf English School opened in 1993 to meet the need for an educational facility which would provide a broad and balanced curriculum based on the English National Curriculum and also offer an Arabic Language and Islamic Studies Programme as authorized by the Qatari Supreme Education Council. The School is housed in modern purpose-built facilities and the students enjoy the benefits of a co-educational programme up until Year Five and a segregated programme from Year Six onwards. The curriculum reflects our vision and our mission to raise responsible young citizens. The School broadly follows the English National Curriculum along with Arabic and Islamic studies as prescribed by the Qatari Ministry of Education. Teaching staff are well qualified and are mostly recruited from the UK.

The core studies programme throughout the school includes: English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Physical Education, Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, Art, Music, Information & Communication Technology. Extra-Curricular programmes along with a diverse range of activities is offered throughout the year and changes according to the special talents of staff and availability of professional staff. The school buildings are fully air conditioned and provide the infrastructure necessary to support experienced teachers implementing a modern teaching programme. Facilities include: Libraries, A variety of reference books and a wide range of novels are available for students to use and borrow. Computer rooms equipped with the latest technology and access to the internet; Science laboratories are fully equipped for the teaching of Biology, Chemistry and Physics; Art workshops: Art classes take place in special purpose areas for all grades; Music Rooms; Multi Purpose Halls: These air-conditioned areas provide space for indoor physical education activities as well as assemblies and other Extra Curricular activities; Shaded outdoor playing areas; Swimming Pools; School canteens; Modern classrooms where no class has more than 22 students; Full time nurses; An air-conditioned bus service.
