Founded in 1996, GEMS Jumeirah Primary School is a purpose built primary school situated in the Al Safa 1 residential area of Dubai. The school follows the National Curriculum for England and has grown in recent years, with six and eight form entry in Foundation Stage 1 and 2 respectively, and seven form entry from Year 1 onwards. It has a large student roll whilst retaining a small school feel, with a friendly atmosphere where every family member is treated as an individual. Children between three and eleven of all nationalities are welcomed, creating a multinational and international environment where children learn to respect, appreciate and enjoy each others’ culture.

All class teachers are western trained, highly experienced and attend regular in-service training to ensure they keep up-to-date with curriculum changes in the UK. The school itself has a good range of facilities to support teaching and learning across the curriculum. The pace of learning is enhanced by advanced interactive technology throughout the school, children have access to iPads and laptops, and all classrooms have interactive whiteboards. Regular specialist lessons in Music, Arabic, Physical Education, Swimming, Islamic Studies and French are offered as part of the curriculum. The Mac Suite, Science Lab and music rooms are well equipped and sporting facilities comprise of two swimming pools, sports hall, gymnasium, tennis court and a large Astroturf pitch.

Assessment for Learning and Personalised Learning are key to the work of the school ensuring that each child has the utmost opportunity to reach his or her full potential. Support is available from our Inclusion Department for children who require additional guidance and has a gifted and talented programme which celebrates the students’ highest achievements in all curricular areas.

Additionally, the school is recognised by The Department for Education and Skills in the United Kingdom and has an outstanding British Schools Overseas status as well as being rated Outstanding by the KHDA since 2010; we are one of only two primary schools to retain this status in Dubai.

The school participates in all inter-school leagues for sport within Dubai with teams for swimming, football, netball, cricket, rounders, basketball, golf, athletics and rugby. In addition to this, the school offers a very comprehensive after-school activity programme including such diverse pursuits as basketball, various arts, table tennis, French, drama, and choir.

Our children achieve to the best of their ability in all areas and gain impressive academic results which enable them to enter secondary schools of their choice with confidence. Children leave GEMS Jumeirah Primary School, as well-educated, happy individuals with a mature outlook having experienced a truly holistic education. An enthusiastic and supportive group of parents organise a variety of family orientated events throughout the year such as the Spring Fair, Movie Night and Pink Bake Sale. New parents are encouraged to join this group.
