Comments/Description

Cairo English School (CES) opened in 2006. Following rapid growth and development, the school  had 900 students in September 2011 in the 3.5 to 17 year age range. By February 2014 it has grown to over 1390 students. In September 2016 the NOR is predicted to be 1620.

CES belongs to the Esol Education group of schools operating throughout the Middle East. Ealy years follow the Early Years Programme whilst Primary follow the ENC with aspects of IPC. Year 7 and 8 Secondary school students follow the English National Curriculum prior to taking examinations in IGCSE in Years 9 and 10. The most senior students, Years 11 and 12, will then progress to either the IB Diploma or A levels. Many of the teaching staff are UK qualified (60%+) and experienced. All teachers are fully qualified and English is their first language. Teachers are predominantly British with a number of New Zealand, Australian, American , Canadian and South African staff also. A rich programme of after school activities, sports and Performing Arts are provided.

Student: Staff ratios are favourable throughout the school, which also is exceptionally well resourced (including the generous provision for ICT). Facilities are exceptional and include an Olympic sized swimming pool, Sports Hall, weights room, all weather running track, floodlit soccer pitch, 3 libraries, specialist facilities for ICT, Science, Art, Music and DT and 2 canteens. The Auditorium with tiered seating for over 620 was completed in 2010-2011 and is an excellent facility for Drama, Music, Assemblies and meetings. In addition to being a member of BSME, the school is also a fully accredited member of CIS achieving accreditation in July 2013 following a CIS visit in May 2013. CES is also an IB World School. Accreditation has been granted from MSA during this academic year 2013-14. CES is one of the few schools in the Middle East to have this dual accreditation. In 2014 CES was successfully accredited by BSME/BSO.
